The Maine Sports Hall of Fame will induct nine more individuals at its 40th annual banquet to be held at noon Sunday, May 3 at the Augusta Civic Center.

The inductees are William Alfond, Peter Carlisle, Glenn Dumont, Anna Goodale, Roger Levesque, Rob Pendergist, Marcie Lane Schulenberg, Eric Weinrich and Amy Winchester.

Alfond is president of the William and Joan Alfond Foundation, which has contributed millions of dollars to build athletic fields and facilities at numerous colleges and centers in Maine.

Carlisle is managing director of Olympics and Action Sports.

Dumont, the greatest running back in Winslow High football history, was a Division II All-American at American International College in 1969 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Goodale won Olympic gold in 2008 with the women’s eight rowing team in Beijing.

Levesque is one of the most honored soccer players in Seattle Sounders history. He was an All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year at Stanford, and an All-State soccer and basketball player at Falmouth High.

Pendergist was a state track champion at Ellsworth High in the long jump, high jump, high hurdles and javelin. He was a national pentathlon high school champion and an All-American at Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Schulenberg, a standout basketball player at Cony High, starred on two basketball and field hockey state title teams. She was a scholarship basketball player at Boston University and New Hampshire.

Weinrich played 17 years in the National Hockey League after starring at the University of Maine. He played in three NHL All-Star games.

Winchester was a five-time state champion in track at Brewer High – twice in the shot put and discus, and once in the javelin. She also was All-State in basketball and soccer. At Dartmouth College she was a four-time All-Ivy League first-team selection in track.
