AUGUSTA — Matt Demers, of Gardiner, will present a week-long exhibition of his artwork displayed in a 8,000-plus square foot vacant retail space at Marketplace at Augusta, 17 Marketplace Drive.
The pop-up show will be on view June 17-24. An opening receptionis set for 5:30-10 p.m. Friday, June 17. The exhibition will feature many new pieces along with work from recent years in a wide variety of sizes ranging from 18×24 inches to 6×10 feet.
The opening reception will feature music by Eb3nflo of Portland.
Demers is a primarily self taught artist who creates bold abstract mixed media paintings. He uses vintage materials in his work, either collaged on the surface or as the foundation for the piece itself. His most recent series is created on vintage tin ceiling panels.
Open hours are 5:30-10 p.m. Friday, June 17 and Monday-Friday, June 20-14; and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19.
This all ages event is free and open to the public.
