When asked what’s so special about Key Appliance on Water Street in Skowhegan, owner Doreen Poulin said it’s her local sales, installation and service— including parts for do-it-yourselfers.
“We service a 50-plus mile radius, including Jackman, Greenville, Kingfield, Pittsfield, Oakland, Farmington and Waterville,” Poulin said.
Since 1993, Key Appliance has been providing all the appliances needed for the home, including air conditioners, gas and electric kitchen ranges, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, trash compactors, washing machines and dryers.
Customers also get to select from many brands, including Amana, Frigidaire, GE, Hotpoint, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Whirlpool. For sales and service, parts for the handyman or the DIY customers, there is something for every taste and pocketbook, including used appliances.
All products that Key Appliance sells come with the manufacturer’s warranty; Key Appliance offers extended warranties on all the products sold.
Professional delivery and installation is available for every product sold and Poulin said she is happy to coordinate delivery and installation.
Key Appliance checks competitors’ prices to ensure they are giving the best price.
“We live up to our slogan ‘committed to giving you the lowest possible price,’ ” she said.
Poulin was working with a couple needing hook-up parts for a portable dishwasher they had picked up at Habitat Restore in Waterville.
The couple had saved a lot of money getting a used dishwasher — and even having to get parts it was still a bargain, they said. Poulin said she could often get parts for appliances they do not sell.
“It’s a matter of working with the community,” she said. “We have had customers who bought from Home Depot but when going back for service, found there was none available. They come here and we can help them. Many will never go back to the big box stores,” said Poulin, the soft spoken, outgoing owner of Key Appliance. Her business demonstrates that bigger isn’t always better.
Key Appliance’s prices are competitive, and the staff delivers and installs. They even have used appliances and can service your appliance or get parts for your DIY jobs. This makes them a valuable resource for the area.
Key Appliance even had a 6-cubic-foot upright freezer, a perfect solution for someone with a bad back trying to find something at the bottom of a full freezer.
