Meagan Tracy, of Oakland, a sophomore, has been named the Maine Connections Academy’s April 2019 STAR Student of the Month, according to a news release from the academy.

Tracy has been an MCA student since last year. Her favorite subjects are history and math. Recently she won the Most Improved Student Award and is now getting A’s for almost all of her courses, according to the release.

Online school works for Tracy. “I think it’s best for kids who have very full schedules or for kids who are OK with lots of reading and sight-learning,” said Tracy according to the release.

Her day is like most any student’s day, “I wake up, do chores, eat breakfast, and then start work around 8 a.m. I give about an hour or so to each class and I’m usually done around 2:30 p.m.” Outside of school, Tracy keeps busy with gardening. “I help to keep up the flower gardens around the house.” Writing — one of her stories was recently published in an anthology on Stranger Sagas — and when all else fails. “I have tons of siblings that keep me busy,” said Tracy according to the release.

Someday, she thinks she might become a teacher herself, or perhaps a real estate agent or perhaps a case-worker for children who require adopting. “I like interacting with other people,” said Tracy, according to the release. “I care about things that affect other people.”
