AUGUSTA – Robert M. Pierce, Sr., 84, of Cony Street, and formerly of the Old Winthrop Road, died May 6, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on August 29, 1936, the son of Paul F. Pierce, Sr. and Christine (Daily) Pierce.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Pierce was employed for many years at Hallowell Shoe Co. and Cotton Mill Apartments.
Bob served in the Maine Army National Guard for 15 years.
He was a member of St. Michael Parish at St. Augustine Catholic Church; a Life Member of the Calumet Club, a former member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, and a former member of St. Paul’s Cursillo group.
Mr. Pierce was predeceased by his parents; and five brothers, Paul F. Pierce, Jr., Malcolm “Bud” Pierce, Donald Pierce, James Pierce, Sr. and Arthur Pierce, Sr.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Theresa J. (Veilleux) Pierce of Augusta; two sons, Robert Pierce, Jr. of Augusta and Dean Pierce of Oakland, two daughters, Deborah Deskowski of Danbury, N.H. and Karen Wilson of Pittston, three stepsons, Alfred Boucher of Vassalboro, Ronald Boucher and David Boucher, both of Augusta, one stepdaughter, Lisa Partridge of Augusta; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no public visiting hours planned. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.
