CHELSEA – Alan Nicholas Decker, “Nick”, 78, formerly of Chesea, died peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Mass. surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Joannie Decker with whom he shared 55 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2019.
Nick was born in Staten Island, N.Y. on Dec. 5, 1942. He was the son of the late William and Lillian Decker.
For many years, Nick co-owned and operated the Community Advertiser (formerly the Winthrop Advertiser) until his retirement.
In his free time, he was a true outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing as often as he could. Nick was an all-around D-I-Yer, and tinkerer, always taking on projects on around his home and to help friends and family. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Gardiner for well over 30 years. He loved his church and his church family very much. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with family.
Nick is survived by two daughters, Sue Anne Saucier and her husband Vernon of Newport and Denise Camire and her husband Roger of Nashua, N.H.; his three grandchildren, Heidi Belanger, Hannah Camire and Lydia Camire. He is also survived by his two sisters, Penny Myers-Pesciotta and her husband Joe of Ohio and Jane Decker of Farmingdale; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nick was predeceased by his sister, Claudia Decker.
A funeral service will be held on June 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 2 Dresden Ave., Gardiner.
