SKOWHEGAN – Stanley Edwin Watson, 87, of Skowhegan passed away on Sept. 29, 2021 of natural causes. He was born to Clyde and Edna Watson of Cambridge on April 6, 1934.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956 before returning to Maine.
He was an auto mechanic for several years at Ladd’s garage and gun shop in Skowhegan, and following that started his career at Central Maine Power from which he retired in 1991.
Stanley was dedicated to his extended family and spent a great deal of his free time building and repairing property structures with and for them. He was a life-long member and past master of the Freemasons. He was a regular and frequent blood donor for his uncommon blood type. He was an avid sportsman and taught his sons well.
Stanley is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Iva Watson; and his sister, Ruth Baird of Hartland.
He is survived by his brother, Ronald Watson, and his sister, Donna Sawyer, both of Cambridge; his sons Stanley and wife Marjorie of Georgetown, Mass., Michael and wife Allison of Fairfield and Ronald of Cornville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
As Stanley directed, there will be no calling hours or public funeral services.
