GRAY – Born in Brewer Maine in 1932 to Rodger and Catherine Springer Allen, Kay was able to be at home with her daughters by her side when she went to be with Jesus.Kay graduated from UMO with a degree in Social Work where she met the first love of her life, Elwyn Grover. They were married and built their dream home in Farmingdale with their three daughters. Following the premature death of Elwyn, Kay returned to social work and continued raising the family.Upon retirement, Kay put an addition on Carol and Jeff’s house on the lake, and then promptly fell in love with the widower next door, Newt, referring to him as her beloved “bonus husband”. They enjoyed their sunset years together, sharing time on the lake with family and friends.Following Newts death, she moved to be near Sharon, whom she has remained with until her passing. She loved being greatly involved with each of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, plenty of grand pups and even grand chickens who received her hand knit outfits.Kay enjoyed a long life including the lake, flowers, birds, the Patriots, a love for chocolate and good friends, most especially Peggy Davis and Norma Grover, who were more like sisters. She took great delight in giving of herself and all she had. No one visited her without finding their favorite snack awaiting them or the most understanding heart to listen to them. She never complained and found the good in all people and situations. At her church she was lovingly known as Nana Kay, the sweetest frame, to all.Her own grandchildren and great children were shining stars in all they did, each one holding a very special place in her heart. Their gifts and cards were always on display, each one representing a dear memory to her.She is survived by her daughter, Carol and husband Jeff; daughter, Martha and husband Jeff and their children, Mason and Haley, Kristina and Jud, Ethan and Kiersten, great-grandchildren, Ellyana, Jordyn, Harper, Willow, Moria and upcoming great grandson; daughter Sharon and her children Hannah and Riley, Sam, Abby, Joshua, and Jonny, along with the entire Morse Family, and the Grover and Swift families.A Memorial Visitation will be Friday October 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray, Maine.
