FARMINGTON — Leslie White, MPH, RD, LD, CSOWM, has been appointed clinical dietitian at Franklin Memorial Hospital providing evidence-based practice that is specific to patients’ nutritional goals in inpatient and outpatient settings.

White has worked in the field of nutrition for 15 years with extensive experience in nutrition counseling, motivational interviewing and promotion of behavior change. She has additional certification as a specialist in obesity and weight management by the Commission on Dietetic Registration that recognizes expertise in helping patients with obesity.

“We are excited to have Leslie come on board with her broad nutritional expertise and newly added credential to address obesity,” said Marcy Lawless, FMH clinical nutrition manager, according to a news release from the hospital. “She will also be available during non-business hours, an additional benefit to our community members who work day shifts.”

White earned her Bachelor of Science in food science and human nutrition from the University of Maine, followed by a master’s degree in public health from East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Northern Light Podiatry welcomes doctor

Northern Light Podiatry welcomes Ashley Mychak, DPM, podiatrist. Mychak will be seeing patients and performing surgery at three Northern Light member organizations: Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, Inland Hospital in Waterville and Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. Mychak’s services will be provided to its regional communities, allowing patients to benefit from expert specialty care close to home.

Mychak provides nonsurgical care for sprains, strains and all kinds of pains, as well as surgical care for foot and ankle fractures, limb salvage, diabetic wounds and bone infection, forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction for deformities such as bunions, hammertoes and flat feet.

Mychak is fellowship trained from the Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgical Fellowship at Ankle and Foot Care Centers in Youngstown, Ohio. She did her residency at the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian in Philadelphia and earned her medical degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Don Plourde named Central Maine Growth Council’s 2021 Developer of the Year

WATERVILLE — Don Plourde, broker and co-owner of Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate in Waterville, has been awarded Central Maine Growth Council’s 2021 Developer of the Year award. The award was presented at the council’s annual meeting, sponsored by Central Maine Motors, Kennebec Savings Bank, MaineGeneral Health, New Dimensions Federal Credit Union and Huhtamaki.

Plourde’s passion for developing central Maine through commercial real estate has been exemplified by his commitment to growing businesses and supporting economic and community development throughout the region. Beyond Don’s day-to-day real estate operations, his investments within the region, along Robert LaFleur Airport Business Park, and, most recently, acquiring two flagship buildings in downtown Waterville, 36 Main St. and 70 Main St., have all made significant contributions to the local economy, according to a news release.

The Winslow native opened Coldwell Banker Plourde in 1989, growing from a staff of two to more than 20 in 30 years of operation. He serves on the Maine Real Estate Commission, where he previously served as the organization’s board chairman. Plourde has served on several boards throughout central Maine, including Waterville Development Corp., Maine State Housing, Winslow Capital Planning Committee and Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, where he served as the organization’s chairman in 1998. Acknowledging the Plourde’s many years of community betterment and service, Don and Irene were recognized as the 2016 Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Community Service winners.
