Ronnie R. Rines

PITTSTON – Ronnie R. Rines “Ron”, 61, of Pittston passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Dec. 10 2021, from complications of COVID. He was born Aug. 30, 1960, in Gardiner, Maine. The son of the late Robert (Bob) Rines and Helen (Macomber) Rines, he was the youngest of his siblings, Donna (Rines) Dill and Gary Rines. Ron attended Gardiner Area High School, working various jobs before having a 40-year career as a Shipfitter at BIW. He enjoyed one month of retirement before falling ill. Ron was a very devoted family man. He is survived by his mother Helen, his three “darlin” daughters, Shannon, Jaime and Nikki and many more family members. He was a loving, supportive and all-around amazing son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. In 2009 he was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter; Rylee Mae and it was a newfound love. He has always had a soft spot for children. In 2018, he FINALLY got “his boy” a handsome grandson, Isaac Oliver Robert. They were the light of his life, and he lovingly referred to them as his “sunshine”. Ron was known for his love of the outdoors. He lived for hunting season, ice fishing, four wheeling and working with his hands. He was very talented at woodworking, making many custom projects and one of his greatest accomplishments was building a beautiful home for his family. Ron loved playing cribbage and horseshoes, telling stories, making people laugh and family dinners with his children and grandchildren. Ron will be forever missed and remembered as a hardworking, reliable, independent and self-sufficient man. For his infectious belly laugh, inappropriate sense of humor, funny jokes and being the life of the party. He had a strong exterior, yet kind and gentle personality and was a great friend- the kind who would give you the shirt off his back. Most of all, we will remember and sorely miss his generous and loving heart. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, January 8 from 12 Noon to 2 p.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
