SMITHFIELD – Nancy P. Guertin Mosher Bubar, 81, of Smithfield, Maine danced her way into heaven after living with dementia for several years. She was surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 3, 2022, and now rests in peace.
Nancy was born in Waterville, Maine on July 1, 1940, and was a graduate of the Waterville High School class of 1959. She then married William (Billy) Mosher and was the loving mother to their six children, Gary Mosher, Timothy Mosher, Jodie Mosher-Towle, Melissa Michonski, Marc Mosher, Vicki Gingras and a very loving Nana to her 12 grandchildren, Sara, Garrett, Gradey, Trey, Jessica, Rachael, Austin, Chance, Hansen, Jaiden, Addison, Averi and one great-grandchild, Everett, with another special little one on the way.
She later married Carroll Bubar and his son, Travis, joined the family.
She was a homemaker for many years and would work alongside Billy at the Somerset Auction Barn in Smithfield as a bookkeeper, she was a stitcher at the C.F. Hathaway Shirt Factory, enjoyed her time working at Thayer Hospital Coffee Shop and behind the counter at the Smithfield Store, where she made many locals their best meal of the day.
She went out of her way and rarely missed a sporting event or any other activity any of her grandchildren were involved in from Maine to Connecticut to New York to New Jersey. She especially enjoyed large family trips to Florida. The more family around her, the happier she was.
She was a steadfast N.Y. Yankees fan, along with her brother Willy, in a sea of Red Sox fans in her family. She loved going out to eat and if you wanted to spend a lot of time with mom, you could join the slowest eater on Earth at any number of diners. She also loved to “ram the roads” and boy, did she.
She loved to dance at Mixers, her favorite spot, and anywhere Dime Store Heroes played. She will always be their biggest fan. She will be remembered for her smile and generosity by everyone.
Mom was an incredible cook, making lots with little for our family of eight and never saying no to us having our many cousins come in to warm up and play boardgames and cards after a long day of sliding, skating or swimming at the stream always greeting all of us with a smile.
Nancy was predeceased by her father, Wilfred Guertin, her mother, Dora Lessard Guertin, brothers, Gerald and James and son in law Brian Michonski. She is survived by her six children, two sons-in-laws, two daughters-in-laws, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild, her brother Wilfred and wife, Celie Guertin, and many nieces and nephews, that she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank Jessie for going above and beyond with her care for mom in our times of need and Cassidy, both of Bridges Home Care, Jessica for her loving care, along with MaineGeneral HomeCare and Hospice’s HHA staff, volunteer Amy, RN Lynda for the best care possible for mom and our family throughout this journey. A special thank you to her son in laws, Yannick Gingras and Jeffrey Towle, for their loving support.
Internment and a celebration of Mom’s life will be held the weekend of June 25, 2022.
