Lynda L. Gifford

MANCHESTER, Maine, and North Port, Fla. – Lynda L. Gifford, 72, died Monday, May 23, 2022, with her husband, Wayne, by her side, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta following a long illness. She was born in Augusta, on Oct. 2, 1949, a daughter of Roland and Theresa (Robichaud) LeClair Bennett.Lynda was a graduate of Cony High School and the University of Maine at Augusta.She was a self-employed accountant for many years, but had also been employed at Depositors Trust, E.J. Prescott, owned her own plant shop, and as property manager with the Lane Agency.Wayne, her husband of 42 years, brought three wonderful step-children, Kristie, Shayne, and Josh, into her life, whom she helped raise and she cherished that loving relationship throughout her life. She also had a special place in her heart for all who called her ”MiMi” or ”Aunt Lyn”.Lyn had a very giving heart and received much pleasure through her volunteer service over the years, particularly while serving in various capacities for the United Way of Kennebec Valley and as an avid reader, working with the Literacy Volunteers of Kennebec. Most recently, she served on the allocations committee and the Board of Directors for the Heron Creek Community Foundation.Lynda enjoyed time with family and friends, parties, being outdoors, especially around water, gardening, travelling, Mah Jong, painting, and reading.Lynda was pre-deceased by her father, Roland A. LeClair and a sister, Sharon Lessard.She is survived by her husband, Wayne J. Gifford of Manchester; her mother, Theresa LeClair Bennett of Manchester; three step-children: Kristina Hutchinson and husband, Mark of Readfield, Shayne Gifford and wife, Jennifer of North Yarmouth, and Joshua Gifford and wife, Lisa of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Deborah Poulton and husband, Randy of Winterport; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends, particularly her Maine and Florida Mah Jong ”buds”.At her request, there will be no public visiting hours.
