SKOWHEGAN – Sau Chun “Daisy” Li, 62, passed away August 17, 2022, at the Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan after an ongoing battle with cancer.
Daisy was born in the Kowloon region of Hong Kong on May 3, 1960, the youngest and only daughter of five children. She graduated from Oberlin College, a former Hong Kong private high school, in 1979 and immigrated in 1989 to Maine following her family. Through her aunt, she was introduced to her husband and they exchanged letters for a few years before they married in 1992.
In Maine, she worked at Solon Manufacturing Co. in Skowhegan before co-owning Chinese-American restaurant China Express in Oakland for 12 years. She was funny, kind, loved trying new foods and cared for her family and friends dearly, emphasizing the importance of helping others.
Daisy is survived by her husband Rui Tian “Tim” Li, brothers Pak Man Lee and Pak Keung Lee; and daughters Eliza Li and Betsy Li. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ngan Ching Tam Lee and Chiu Sun Lee; and brothers Pak Leung Lee and Pak Kuen Lee.
A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Hall in the Skowhegan Federated Church, 13 Island Ave, Skowhegan on Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.
