Esther Stewart

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Esther Stewart, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, in West Palm Beach, Fla. with her grandson, Adam, by her side.

She was born in Hartland on March 6, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Mildred Wheeler who passed before her.

She worked for many years, retiring as a “Floor Girl” at New Balance Athletics in Skowhegan.

Esther’s husband, Ted Stewart, passed before her on June 26, 2012, at the age of 85. She moved to Florida in 2012 to live with her daughter, Rachael. Her youngest daughter, Kathy Kilkenny, passed at her home in Madison, just eight days prior to Esther’s passing, on Sunday, Aug. 7.

Esther is survived by her brother, Louis and wife Genny Wheeler, of Skowhegan, and their three children, Criss Frith of Anson, Lisa McGuire of Skowhegan and Louie Wheeler of Cornville. She’s also survived by her eldest daughter, Rachael and husband Tom Streifel and Esther’s grandson, Adam Streifel, all of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Arrangements are under the care of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, Skowhegan. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, North Avenue, Skowhegan, on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Father Jim Nadeau, Pastor of Christ the King Parish, will preside.
