I met David LaFountain, long before he began running for Maine Senate, at a Waterville rally. Within minutes, concerned about counter-protestors, I asked LaFountain to join our security team, watch for provocateurs, help if trouble arose. He immediately agreed. Decades as a first responder and local fire chief hadn’t diminished his commitment to the “general welfare.” The event remained peaceful, but it was comforting that LaFountain was “in the house.”

I met LaFountain again recently at another rally. Now I already knew he’d act quickly should trouble arise. I did not know he’d step in unhesitatingly and effectively to resolve our unanticipated technical problems!

LaFountain deserves much credit for making our event a wonderful success. He cares deeply about this community, and has publicly affirmed his determination to protect our fundamental rights to control our reproductive lives and health. He’ll have my vote on November 8; he deserves yours, too.
