Marcelle A. (Roy) Nardi

WATERVILLE – Marcelle A. (Roy) Nardi, 98, of Waterville, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, after an unexpected decline in her health. Some of the family was able to say goodbye and her daughter, Julie, was fortunate to be by her side when she passed.

Marcelle was born in Waterville on March 15, 1924, the daughter of Albert King and Mabel (Poulin) King.

Marcelle grew up in the Waterville area and attended Waterville schools. After graduation she worked as a secretary at Railway Express. She married Aldo J. Nardi on Oct. 30, 1948. She then worked with her husband at their sporting goods business, Waterville Marine, on Front Street. Later she worked as a clerk at CF Hathaway and at The Colby College Museum of Art until she retired.

Marcelle loved being with family. She was able to live with her daughters and travel between Maine and Florida until the last few months of her life where she was cared for at Bedside Manor in Oakland. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happy that they could share her joy of being at camp. Her memories of the years she spent with her husband and children on East Pond were her fondest.

In her younger years she enjoyed outside activities like hunting, fishing, swimming, boating, cross-country skiing and weekend camper trips with her husband and son. As she aged, she still enjoyed camp where she could be surrounded by her family’s continuous laughter, conversation and love of nature. Being with family was everything. She always said she was so blessed to have us but we were the blessed ones to have enjoyed her companionship for so long.

She was predeceased by her husband, Aldo J. Nardi; sister, Jeannine Viens and brother, Francis “Frank” King.

Marcelle is survived by her four children, Alicia Watts and husband Robert, Julie Nardi, Carole Languet and husband Paul, Dr. John Nardi and wife Jennifer; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held in the spring with a burial at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed, condolences and memories shared at http://www.gallantfh.com
