Irma F. Partridge

AUGUSTA and NEWPORT – Irma Frances Partridge, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on February 19, 2023. Irma was born in Rockland on September 1, 1943. At a young age, she was adopted by Levora “Vodie” Swan. Irma attended schools in many towns throughout New England but finally settled in Plymouth where she attended Newport High School. She met Richard Hopkins, Sr. while living in Plymouth and they married on October 17, 1959 and settled in Plymouth. Irma worked for many years at the Snow Flake Canning Company in Corinna. Later, she worked as a waitress at the Log Cabin Restaurant for more than two decades and she could still recite the long list of pies offered at the restaurant.

After the death of Richard, Irma married Frederick Partridge on November 2, 1985. Irma and Fred spent many years in Florida working during the winter and coming back to Maine for the summers. They enjoyed singing and dancing together. Irma will be fondly remembered for baking goodies for family members for their birthdays and Christmas and most especially for her homemade “Nana Irma” bread. She will also be remembered for always being up for a game of cribbage, Yahtzee, or cards.

She is survived by her loving husband, Fred, who sang to her any chance he got; her sister, Maxine and husband Lee Leavitt of Newport; son Lyndon and wife Pamela Hopkins of Corinna; son Richard, Jr. and wife Rhonda Hopkins of Jackman; daughter Carla and wife Tiffany Hopkins of Mount Vernon; stepdaughter Pamela Partridge and partner Bob Rideout of Whitefield; grandchildren, Nicole Hopkins-Martin and husband Nicholas Martin of Corinna; Andrew Hopkins of Wahpeton, North Dakota; Richard Hopkins of Corinna; Isaac Hopkins of Biddeford; Elizabeth Hopkins-Smith and husband Matt Smith of Wahpeton, North Dakota; Eli Hopkins of Mount Vernon; and Jeremy Killam and partner Rachel Giroux of Vassalboro; great-grandchildren Lexi Snowman, Quinn Hopkins, Breckyn Martin, Liam and Alivia Hopkins, Kylie, Kadence and Calvin Killam; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Irma was predeceased by her first husband Richard Hopkins, Sr.; mother Levora “Vodie” (Swan) Fullerton; brother Alfred Tozier; stepson Paul Partridge; and granddaughter Jessica Killam.

Irma’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and talking about their accomplishments. Irma’s home was always open to all and for as long as needed. Her love, kindness, and compassion for others will be dearly missed by all who knew her. At Irma’s request, there will be no funeral service.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those who wish may leave written condolences at http://www.CrosbyNeal.com.
