SOMERVILLE — Pumpkin Vine Family Farm at 217 Hewett Road plans to reopen its barn doors to the public for a chance to meet its new arrivals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, during a Hug a Furry Baby event.
The farm had 78 baby goats, better known as “kids,” born in April. Visitors can view a documentary on the baby’s birth and then head into the kid pens for a snuggle. People can bring a market basket, since the farmers market will have baked goods, veggies, mushrooms, fiber, local meat, plants, goat cheese and smoothies, according to a news release from Kelly Payson-Roopchand, owner.
In Focus Astronomy will have a solar scope set up for a special glimpse of the sun between noon and 2 p.m., and yoga in the field will be offered from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
For more information on all the hands-on educational offerings, visit pumpkinvinefamilyfarm.com.
This is a free event; registrations are not required. Donations to support the farm’s educational opportunities can be made in the cheese shop.
