Special thanks to Amy Calder and the Morning Sentinel/Kennebec Journal for their critical reporting on the urgent need of local food pantries such as Winslow Community Cupboard for new and ongoing funding (“Waterville City Council urged to take action as need for food grows,” Oct. 4).

In just over three years, “The Cupboard” has become an essential humanitarian resource in the fight against food insecurity among children, seniors, and other adults throughout the greater Waterville area. But with winter approaching and federal dollars being cut-back post-pandemic, there is a new and escalating need to assist those food pantries who assist our food-insecure neighbors.

I urge all local businesses, government bodies, nonprofits, and concerned individuals to please consider a one-time or regular monthly donation to Winslow Community Cupboard by visiting WCCPantry.com.
