I am writing to express my strong support for the Maine Environmental Priorities Coalition’s 2024 priority bills. The EPC, a group of 34 organizations across the state, has identified six issues before the Legislature which are critical to protecting the wondrous environment here in Maine.

I have truly fallen in love with Maine since moving here a few years ago. From walking through the snow-covered forests in winter to spending cool summer evenings on a lake, I’ve found Maine to be a very special place. These experiences are at risk though. Even in the last few years I’ve seen the winters warm, flooding increase, and toxic PFAS threaten human health.

While Maine is already a leader in environmental action, more work is needed if we hope to protect the Maine we all love for future generations. We must do more to avoid toxins, protect critical habitats, address climate change, and ensure equity. In order to protect the Maine I, and so many others, know and love, we must come together to take strong action on climate, the environment, and environmental justice.

It is vital that Maine continues to be a national leader in protecting the environment and fighting climate change. The priority bills are the way to do this. Join the fight for the environment in Maine by signing up to take action with the EPC.
