Marjorie Helen (Spencer) Goulette

SKOWHEGAN – Marjorie Helen (Spencer) Goulette, 92, a resident of Woodlawn Nursing Center, died peacefully on Feb. 24, 2024 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital surrounded by her children.

Marjorie was born on July 10, 1931, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Lucy (Libby) and Almon Spencer. She left this world after a long life and with the love and admiration of everyone who knew her. Marjorie graduated from Skowhegan High with the class of 1949. She met her husband, Joseph “Larry” Goulette while roller skating at a local rink, marrying June 30, 1951. They settled in Skowhegan, where they built a loving home. Marjorie retired from MSAD #54 after many years of service. She was a Breast Cancer survivor who endured the death of her husband, Larry, in 2006. She was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, and camping at area campgrounds.

Marjorie and Larry traveled with Barbara’s family and their grandson’s Boy Scout Troop to Mount Rushmore. For several years Marjorie and Joanne enjoyed taking ceramics classes for ladies’ night out, with Marjorie gifting many of her pieces. She was also a member of TOPS. In later years, Marjorie and Larry spent winters in Florida, where they made many new friends. In 2007, Steve took Marjorie to Fenway Park, her last Red Sox game there, and she was so excited to see a no-hitter. Marjorie’s greatest joys were her family and her faith.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Barbara Blunda and husband Peter of Gorham, Stephen Goulette and wife Debbie of Brewer, and Joanne Hewett and husband Jeffrey of Skowhegan; grandchildren, John Blunda and wife Andrea, Joseph Blunda and wife Kim, Samuel Blunda and wife Amanda, Daron Goulette and wife Heidi, Michelle Bartlett and husband Benjamin, and Shawn Hewett; great-grandchildren, Grace and Leah Bartlett, and Beckett and Hughett Blunda; as well as many nieces, nephews; and a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her seven siblings, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.

A casual gathering, followed by a luncheon, will be held on March 9 at 11 a.m. on the island in Skowhegan at Tewksbury Hall, located behind the Federated Church.
