I remember when the choice to terminate a pregnancy was one that wasn’t legal. I’m wondering why now we’ve elected officials who want to return to those times. Do they not know women find ways to terminate a pregnancy whether it’s illegal or not? Do they not know that women died and are dying again when government interferes with such a personal decision?

The Republican platform calls for the monitoring of pregnancy and a national abortion ban. We will only be safe here in Maine as long as we have a pro-choice governor. The chance to secure that right in the Maine Constitution by sending it to the people was defeated by Republicans and some Democrats. My representative, whom I like and have always supported, sadly voted against funding for family planning to prevent the need for abortion. If you believe in pro-choice, vote for Cassie.
