Lynda Ann (Rancourt) Worster

SKOWHEGAN – On May 16, 2024, Lynda Worster passed away peacefully in Skowhegan.

The only daughter of Neil and Phyllis Rancourt, she was born on Nov. 5, 1945 in Jackman. She graduated from Jackman High School along with some of her closest friends with whom she remained close.

After high school, while working at Penobscot Lake camps, Lynda met her husband-to-be, Douglas “Hubby” Worster. They were married on Sept. 3, 1965. The only time they spent away from Jackman was one year they lived in El Paso, Texas while Douglas was in the U.S. Army. They loved to go camping on Attean Lake with family and friends, fishing in the Moose River during the spring and summer, and partridge hunting in the fall.

Lynda was a very active part of the Jackman community. She enjoyed the Garden Club, the Red Hats, and playing Texas Hold’em twice each week. She had many friends and family that would love to visit her home where they could sit outside on her porch and watch the cars drive by.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Douglas, Sr. in 2005. She was also predeceased by her brothers Murdock Morrell and Wayne “Buddy” Rancourt; as well as her granddaughter, Jessica Worster.

Lynda is survived by her children, Douglas Jr. and his wife Carol of Jackman, Melany Gilboe and her husband Ron of Jay; her grandchildren, Jasmine Worster, Evan Worster, Baylee Gilboe, and Austin Gilboe; and great-granddaughters Aspen and Leah. She is also survived by her brothers Earl “Jerry” Rancourt and his wife Marge, and Allen Rancourt; in-laws Edward Worster and his wife Carol, Beverly Suntum, Mary Ann Bentley, and Andrea Worster; as well as many loving cousins; nieces, nephews; and friends. She especially had fond memories of visits from Jeff, Jen and their families.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Faustina Church of St. Anthony’s Parish in Jackman at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
