FAIRFIELD — Lawrence High School has announced its top 10 seniors for the class of 2024. They students are listed in alphabetical order.
Whitney Churchill of Benton is the daughter of Maria Churchill of Benton and Ed Churchill of Fairfield. She has been involved in Student Council and Student Government, as well as soccer and lacrosse. She is also a member of EMPOWER, a student group advocating for a chemical free lifestyle, as well as a member of the National Honor Society. Churchill plans to attend Husson University next year.
Kaylee Elkins, daughter of Heather and Chad Elkins and resident of Shawmut, plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College and study radiology. She has been involved in EMPOWER as well as National Honor Society, and has been captain of the softball team and a member of the basketball team, receiving KVAC Honorable Mention status for 2024. She received the University of Rochester Book Award her junior year for academic excellence.
Hallie Firmage, daughter of Krista and Elon Firmage of Fairfield, is the class valedictorian. She participated in cross country, being named captain her senior year. She also participated in vocal ensemble Vocal Vibe and is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as vice president in her senior year. She was the Principal’s Award recipient for the class of 2024, as well as a co-recipient of the first ShineOnCass Community Service Scholarship. Firmage plans to attend Brigham Young University in the fall to major in philosophy.
Maylie Knox is the daughter of Kelly and Shawn Knox of Fairfield. She was an active member of the following organizations: National Honor Society, serving as secretary; Student Government, varsity softball and was captain her senior year, as well as varsity field hockey. Knox plans to attend Thomas College in the fall and majoring in business administration.
Gavin Lunt, son of Tammy and Eric Lunt of Fairfield, is the class salutatorian. He is a three-sport athlete having played football, basketball and baseball. Accolades he’s received include 2nd Team Receiver and Honorable Mention Linebacker in Football, captain in basketball and was named to 2nd Team All-KVAC and the McDonald’s All-State Academic Team. He has been named to the KVAC All-Academic Team three times. He is a member of the National Honor Society, having served as treasurer; and is a member of the EMPOWER club. Lunt is also the class of 2024 vice president. He is the recipient of the Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation Scholarship, the George Eastman Young Leaders Award, the New Dimensions Federal Credit Union Scholarship, and the Elks Club Scholarship. Lunt plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington to study actuary science.
Jacob McFarland is the son of Valerie and Richard McFarland of Clinton. He participated in Jazz Band and Jazz Combo throughout his high school career as a pianist and drummer. He plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College to study in the Applied Electronics and Computer Technology program for two years and then transfer to University of Maine at Augusta.
Colby Nadeau is the son of Devon and Nick Nadeau of Benton. He participated in football, wrestling and lacrosse all four years. Nadeau was captain of all three sports teams that he participated in and received First Team All Conference recognition in football, as well as earned KVAC All-Academic honors three times. He is also the recipient of the Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation Scholarship. Nadeau plans to attend Husson University in the fall to major in nursing.
Matthew Quigley is the son of Julia and Jason Quigley of Benton. He participated on the varsity golf team for three years and was the number one golfer on the team. He also participated on the varsity basketball team this past year. Quigley is headed to Southern Maine Community College in the fall and plans to participate on the golf team there while studying business with future plans of moving into digital marketing.
Maddox Santone of Clinton is the son of Heather Paradis of Waterville and Chris Santone of Clinton. He has been involved in co-curricular activities and athletics throughout his four years at Lawrence. While at Lawrence he participated in basketball his freshman year, football and baseball all four years, EMPOWER his junior and senior years, as well as Student Council and National Honor Society his senior year. Santone plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington and major in secondary education in either math or physical education.
Mya Williams is the daughter of Beth and Tom Williams of Fairfield. She participated in softball her freshman year. She played soccer all four years and was named captain for her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was in Jazz Band and Marching Band, as well as Student Government and Student Council all four years. She was named to National Honor Society in her sophomore year and participated in EMPOWER her sophomore, junior and senior years. She is the senior class president and has been an executive member of the EMPOWER club. Her junior year she was awarded the ShineOnCass Service Award, as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, and the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award. Williams plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington to major in elementary education.
