RANDOLPH – Robert Neil Payson, 63, of Randolph died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Robert “Rob” Payson was born in Augusta on June 23, 1960. Rob was most fond of the simple things in life. He had a deep admiration for a range of outdoor activities, such as cycling, skiing, and kayaking. He cherished any opportunity to ride his bicycle on the rail trail, to paddle his kayak up and down the Kennebec River, or to spend the day on the slopes of Sugarloaf. His favorite place to be was on the small island of Southport, overlooking the ocean at Lighthouse Beach.
Rob was a senior field technician and a team leader for Ricoh-USA and was a respected professional in his industry for nearly 40 years. Rob met his wife, Kathy in the late 1980s, and the couple had their son, Kyle in 2000.
Robert was a selfless father and husband who would do anything in his power to make sure those close to him were supported in whichever way they needed. His love for his son, Kyle was unflinching and unconditional. Robert often placed Kyle’s needs above his own, and he was his favorite topic of conversation. In his professional life, Rob was most proud of being able to provide top-notch customer service every day. Robert had a passion for helping others.
Robert is going to be dearly missed by all.
Robert is survived by his son, Kyle Payson of Randolph; and by his siblings Dale Payson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Linneken of Davie, Fla., Beth Payson of Portland, Alan Payson of Boca Raton, Fla., Norman Payson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Andrew Payson of Southport.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, Brian; by his parents Norman and Jeanne (Hamilton) Payson; and by his wife, Kathy W. Payson.
Rob’s close family and friends will be having a private celebration on their property on Southport Island.
Arrangements and guidance are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com.
