Gerald P. Cass

AUGUSTA – Gerald P. Cass, 83, passed away peacefully at Glenridge Nursing Home on May 10, 2024, after a long illness.

He was born in Fort Fairfield on May 7, 1941, the son of Chester and Edna (Bell) Cass.

At a very young age Gerald and his family moved to Augusta where he lived for most of his life, graduating from Cony High School. After high school he worked several jobs before he joined Central Maine Power where he worked for 40 years and retired as a lineman. He enjoyed his work at CMP, and near the end of his career was proud to be able to lead teams of linemen and tree workers from across the US and Canada through his service area to help recover from the devastating ice storm of 1998. He enjoyed being busy outdoors and loved to spend time with Cookie and Princess, the family Labrador Retrievers.

He is survived by his wife Daisy (Hodgkins) Cass (married 56 years); his son, Corey Cass and his wife Jennifer; and grandchild Kyle. One sister Geraldine (Cass) Mundi and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Paul and sister Phyllis (Cass) McMillan.

There will be a small private family burial at Forest Grove Cemetery in Augusta.
