In response to “World War II veterans join leaders to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Normandy beach,” (June 7).

In this article Joe Biden was quoted saying: ” To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators is simply unthinkable.” He was referring to Vladimir Putin.

America is not going to surrender to Russia, because Russia does not have a fleet of aircraft carriers. What is going on in Ukraine and Russia is a fight between two former Soviet territories on the other side of the planet and has nothing to do with us. I don’t know why Joe Biden, a mumbling, bumbling president, is trying to start a war with Vladimir Putin, who is a diabolical genius. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to get drafted in the future and end up spending the rest of my life as part of an occupying army in Siberia.

What are we going to do? Draft a nation of homeless drug addicts and alcoholics to start a war over something that has zero interest in America’s security? If we can’t counter a nationwide labor shortage, because an overwhelming number of people can’t handle taking orders on the job, how are they going to take orders in any military branch after being drafted during a new war against Russia?
