ALNA — The Maine New Farmers Project at University of Maine Cooperative Extension is set to offer a farm visit from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at SeaLyon Farm, 1788 Alna Road.
Farmers/owners Don and Marcia Lyons will discuss agritourism and lavender production on their farm. Participants can take a train ride from the farm to the nearby station and back.
This event, geared toward people interested in starting a farm in Maine or who have started one in the last 10 years, provides an opportunity to learn important skills as well as network with other farmers and service providers.
The event is free; registration on the program webpage at extension.umaine.edu is required to stay up to date with updates and resources.

We believe it’s important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
