Madison is testing a new communication tool for reaching residents with cellphones.
Text My Gov is a platform for which anyone can sign up and opt in to receive blast messages on important town-related topics or events, such as meetings, public hearings, road closings or detours, and tax payment reminders.
It’s also useful to report things to the town quickly and easily, like giant potholes, stray or loose animals, the electronic sign on Main Street being blank, or missing stop signs. This does not replace 911 for emergency situations.
To sign up, text “MadisonME” to 91896. People will receive a confirmation text to which they need to reply “Yes,” and they will be in the Town of Madison text group.
