Dennis A. Gagne

AUGUSTA – Dennis A. Gagne, 78, passed away July 22, 2024, at his home in Augusta. He was born on June 28, 1946, a son of Raphael and Lea (Savage) Gagne.

Dennis grew up in Augusta and attended local schools. As a young man, he enlisted in the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. During his service, Dennis was awarded the Bronze Star and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1968. On June 13, 1970, he married Linda Busque and they raised two sons, Nicholas and Corey. Dennis worked at Statler Tissue in Augusta for 25 years, and then at Togus VA Medical Center for several years before retiring.

After Linda’s passing, Dennis met and eventually married Tamra Caron on August 7, 2009. Together they enjoyed their retirement years camping, going on cruises, and traveling. Dennis was a communicant of St. Michael’s Parish, a member of the Winslow VFW Post #8835, and a life member of Le Club Calumet.

Dennis was predeceased by an infant daughter, Erin Gagne; his first wife, Linda Gagne; and a brother Ronald Gagne.

He is survived by his wife, Tamra Gagne; his sons, Nicholas Gagne and Corey Gagne; step-children, Heather Macklin, Zachary Macklin, and Kyle Macklin; granddaughter, Addison Gagne and step-grandson Gavyn Donovan; a brother David Gagne and his wife Ursula; several nephews including Gary Cooper and his wife Nadine, and Charles Cooper; mother and father in-law, Leo and Mary Lou Caron; and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta, ME 04330 in section F.
