Roscoe “Rocky” John Scott III

PITTSFIELD – Roscoe “Rocky” John Scott III, 71, passed away on August 26, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 29, 1952, to the late Roscoe John Scott II and Joan Mann.

After attending St. John’s Catholic School, Rocky graduated from Brunswick High School in 1971. Following high school, he served in the United States Coast Guard for four years and proudly served as a Maine State Trooper for 22 years from 1979-2001. He additionally spent four years as a detective, two years as a planning and research specialist, and five years as a law enforcement instructor at CATC in Augusta. Rocky also worked as an intelligence analyst for the Maine Information and Analysis Center.

In his free time, you could find him laughing with friends at Peppers or TJ’s in Monmouth, playing cribbage, fishing, hunting, or spending time with his “tribe”.

Rocky is survived by his children, Jordan and her husband Sean Doherty, Curtis Scott, Chelsea Alexander; his three beloved grandchildren, Veda, Maren, and Felix; and his siblings Charlotte Infante, Stephen Scott, and Amy-Jo Brooks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m., at Saint Augustine’s Catholic Church, Northern Ave. Augusta, followed by a graveside service at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta at 12 p.m., where Rocky will receive military honors. All are welcome. There will be a celebration of life at the Legion Hall Post 40 in Winthrop following the service.
