HALLOWELL — The Friends of the Hubbard Free Library, in partnership with the Hubbard Free Library, have kicked off National Library Card Sign-up Month with the first Hubbard Free Library Card Design Contest.

This contest invites community members of all ages to contribute their artistic talents and design the new library card for 2025. The contest is exclusive to library patrons.

Submissions can be either digital or hand-crafted, but must be human-created (no AI). All designs must be original and created by the entrant. Designs should adhere to the specifications provided in the contest guidelines, and may be modified to fit library card dimensions.

Each participant is allowed up to two submissions. The deadline for entries is Monday, Sept. 23.

Digital designs can be emailed to friendsofhubbardlibrary@gmail.com. Designs should be dropped off at the library’s front desk.

On Friday, Sept. 27, the Friends will vote on three finalists. These finalists will be announced Sept. 28, with the community invited to vote for their favorite design.

The winning designs will be featured on the official 2025 library cards, and the artists will receive a special library gift bag as a token of appreciation.

For more information, including the full submission templates and guidelines, submission templates, visit the library, check out the Friends of the Hubbard Free Library Facebook page, or email friendsofhubbardlibrary@gmail.com.
