HINCKLEY — Good Will-Hinckley is set to hold its second annual Wel-Kum Bak event for alumni and friends — including those who attended and worked at Good Will-Hinckley, The Hinckley School and Averill High School — on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28.
As part of GWH’s Fall Festival, the celebration will have food, fun and games at the Hinckley Campus, 16 Prescott Drive.
Activities begin Friday evening, with a craft fair (free admission) set for 5-8 p.m. in Bishop Auditorium on the Fairfield campus, with entertainment under the tent starting at 5 p.m.
Tickets cost $20 in advance, and $25 at the door for “Crafts, Drafts and Laughs (And Pizza Too),” which will include music, Running with Scissors Comedy Improv, beer and wine, and wood-fired pizza, according to a news release from Wayne Lobley with Good Will-Hinckley.
Wel-Kum Bak activities continue Saturday with local Rotary organizations hosting a pancake breakfast under the tent starting at 8:30 a.m. and Good Will-Hinckley memorabilia, class photos and displays throughout the day in the Alfond Visitors Center.
The festival, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., includes a climbing wall, lawn games, pumpkin painting, obstacle course, food trucks, craft and art fair, reptile tent, wagon rides, live music and a passport adventure. Also on the campus, the L.C. Bates Natural History Museum at Good Will-Hinckley will be offering free admission for the day, sponsored by Skowhegan Savings Bank.
Good Will-Hinckley Alumni will have a special lounge at the Alfond Visitors Center, tours of campus (including the Moody Chapel) and time to reconnect. Admission to Saturday’s event is free because of festival sponsors, Sappi and Golden Pond Wealth Management, but donations are always welcome.
The celebration concludes with a dinner reservation at a local restaurant. Those who are an alumnus, friend, or former staff member interested in participating can contact Barbara Gourley at Good Will-Hinckley at 207-238-4000 or bgourley@gwh.org.
