The Milky Way as seen from Surry Hill in Fayette. Tyler Keniston photo

FAYETTE — John Meader of Northern Stars Planetarium, along with Kennebec Land Trust, are set to host a hike and a tour of the stars at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, on Surry Hill.

The hike up Surry Hill is a round trip of about 1.5 to two miles, with 200 feet of elevation gain.

Meader will lead the group through a tour of the constellations and stars visible that evening. Any visible planets, the Milky Way, as well as meteors (shooting stars) and satellites found will be discussed.

People should bring binoculars (if they have them) to see planets, binary stars, star clusters and more using the “star hopping” method.

The cost is $10, and $5 for KLT members.

Space is limited; registration is required. To register, email Marie Ring at mring@tklt.org or call the KLT office at 207-377-2848.
