ALBION — A 53-year-old man died Friday night when he crashed his vehicle into a rock, officials said.

James T. McGarey of Albion suffered fatal injuries when his 2012 Dodge pickup truck, traveling southbound on East Benton Road, left the roadway and struck a rock at 7:41 p.m., according to a news release from Lt. Aaron Turcotte of the Maine State Police.

First responders attempted life-saving measures, the release said, but McGarey died from his injuries.

The crash is under investigation. Police ask anyone who saw the crash to call the Maine State Police Central Field Troop at 624-7076.
