A clash between two 2023 state champions. Mt. Abram (5-1), the Class C champion, and Monmouth (5-1), the Class D champion, have graduated key players from their title-winning teams, but each retained enough talent to still be in the mix for another long playoff run.

Winthrop at Spruce Mountain field hockey

The defending Class C champion Ramblers (8-0) and the 2023 C South runner-up Phoenix (6-1) have been rolling through most of their opponents this season. Dirigo is the only Class C team this season to lose to these two teams by less than three goals.

Biddeford at Cheverus field hockey
4 p.m., Wednesday
These might be the two best teams in the state, as Biddeford’s only loss was to Cheverus in the season opener, 2-0. The Tigers (5-1) have soundly defeated every opponent since, and the Stags (7-0) haven’t lost a regular season game since 2019.
