I would like to thank both the alert citizen observer and the responders to what appeared to be a problem on a recent Tuesday.  It is nice to know that some people are alert and responsive.

I live on Church Hill Road halfway between north and south Belfast roads. I own both sides of the road there.

On this Tuesday I was dragging a tarp load of brush I had cut across the road to a brush pile in the woods. The weeds were quite lush. I tangled one foot in them, lost my balance and fell into a soft cover of weeds.

Apparently, a passing citizen saw me fall and noticed I did not immediately reappear. His/her response was to notify the Delta Ambulance garage just up the hill at South Belfast of a possible emergency. At 90, it took me a few seconds to untangle my foot, choose my best plan upward and return to view above the weeds.  About that time a flashing ambulance came down the hill, spotted me as I reappeared and turned into the driveway across from my house.

The driver started to get out, but saw me standing and just waited to see if I seemed OK. When I took hold of the tarp and began to continue my errand, the ambulance returned up the hill to the garage. I probably should have thought to hike over to them in thanks.

It is good to know that if I had gotten into a problem I could not handle with my cellphone, someone would have been there. Thanks.
