WALES — A woman was killed Sunday morning when her vehicle collided with an unloaded logging truck on Route 132 in Wales, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at 9:46 a.m. to the Bull Run and Leeds Junction roads stretch of Route 132, also Pond Road, for a report of a head-on collision involving two vehicles.

The investigation’s preliminary results indicated a Volkswagen SUV might have crossed the centerline and veered into the path of an oncoming logging truck, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The female operator of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and the driver of the logging truck was not injured.

Route 132 was closed for several hours for crash reconstruction, and for cleaning by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Chief Deputy William Gagne of the Sheriff’s Office said Sunday the victim’s identity is expected to be released Monday morning, after her family is notified.
