HALLOWELL — Sgt. Stacey Blair of the Gardiner Police Department was issued a summons Sunday evening for operating under the influence after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Second Street.

Blair, who has been a member of the Gardiner Police Department since 1999, was driving north when he veered off the road on a corner for Ridge Road around 7 p.m., according to the Maine State Police, who responded to the scene. Blair’s 2018 Jeep Wrangler then rolled into a ditch, state police said. He was not injured.

State police said in a statement that impairment was a factor in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation.

Gardiner Police Chief Todd Pilsbury said the matter was a personnel issue and declined to say whether Blair, 57, was placed on administrative leave. Pilsbury confirmed Blair is still a member of the department.
