Harrison Scott and Thomas Freel each scored twice as the University of Maine men’s hockey team extended its unbeaten streak to seven with a 6-0 win over Merrimack in a Hockey East game Saturday at Alfond Arena in Orono.
Seventh-ranked Maine improves to 6-0-1 overall, 3-0-1 in Hockey East heading into a pair of games against second-ranked Boston College on Nov. 8 and 10. Merrimack falls to 1-4-1, 0-2-1 in Hockey East.
Ross Mitton scored 17 seconds into game. Freel scored with 27 seconds left in the first.
Scott scored twice in the second period when Maine scored four times. Freel and Charlie Russell also scored in the second.
Scott and Russell each added two assists.
Maine goalie Albin Boija stopped 15 shots before leaving the game in the third period, allowing freshman Patriks Berzins to make his college debut.
