The Lincoln County Democratic Committee is set to host political journalist Kevin Miller for a post-election analysis and discussion at the organization’s final meeting of 2024 at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Participants can join in person at the committee’s 2024 Campaign Headquarters, 27 River Road in Newcastle, or via Zoom.
Miller covers government, politics and elections for Maine Public Radio. He joined Maine Public’s State House team in 2021 after nearly 25 years as a newspaper reporter, according to a news release from Carol Preston, committee secretary.
Miller, who previously covered the State House for both the Portland Press Herald and the Bangor Daily News, spent a few years on Capitol Hill as a Washington correspondent. Prior to moving to Maine in 2005, he wrote about politics, higher education and the environment for newspapers in Virginia and Maryland. He lived many years in Newcastle.
Those joining in person are asked to bring items for the committee’s Food Pantry Partnership. In November, the committee is collecting items for the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Newcastle. The pantry has requested canned peaches or pears (preferably without added sugar), spaghetti sauce, toothpaste and laundry detergent.
All Lincoln County Democrats and unenrolled progressives are welcome to attend. The committee voting members will automatically receive the Zoom log on information and reminders by email.
Registration for the meeting is required for non-voting members who want to receive Zoom log on and/or phone-in details. Register before noon the day of the meeting to ensure access. LCDC will do its best to accommodate last-minute registrations.
Those interested in becoming a voting member must be a registered Democrat in Lincoln County and may make their interest known by indicating so at the in-person meeting, on the meeting registration form at lincolncountydemocrats.com/meet, or by emailing info@lincolncountydemocrats.com.
