FARMINGTON — A local woman was indicted Wednesday on charges connected to giving hashish — a compressed form of powdered marijuana — to a child under age 18, according to Farmington court documents.
Jessie L. Atwood, 43, of Farmington was indicted on charges of aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs: hashish, unlawful furnishing of a scheduled drug: hashish, endangering the welfare of a child, and endangering the welfare of a dependent person between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31, 2023.
A conviction on the charges range from 364 days in jail to five years in prison.
The indictment alleges that Atwood intentionally or knowingly provided what she knew, or believed to be, a scheduled drug.
She also allegedly endangered the health, safety, or welfare of a child by violating a duty of care or protection. The indictment further claims she endangered the health, safety, or mental welfare of a dependent person who was unable to perform self-care due to advanced age or a physical or mental disorder.
Attempts to reach Atwood on Thursday were not immediately successful.
