From New York-style boiled bagels to Montreal-inspired wood-fired ones to some sourdough ones in between, there are lots of great bagels in southern Maine and several shops have the accolades to back that up.
In 2023, Bon Appetit named bagels from Rose Foods and Rover Bagel among the best in the country.
Two years before that, Food & Wine Magazine put Rover, Forage and Scratch Baking Co. on its list of best bagels in the U.S.
Whether you like yours toasted with cream cheese or as the bread for your breakfast sandwich, you can find plenty of styles and flavors from Augusta to Biddeford and some in between.
