FARMINGTON — The High Peaks Alliance has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Quimby Family Foundation to support its general operations. This grant aims to help further the alliance’s mission of keeping the High Peaks region wild and accessible through conservation, access and collaboration.

Selected from a pool of over 100 applicants, the alliance was chosen for its alignment with the foundation’s vision of supporting human wholeness, especially for Maine’s historically least-funded communities and populations.

This grant aims to allow growth in several ways:
• Creating Regional Conservation Corps to maintain and improve regional trails;
• Continuing the Scenic 7 Hiking Challenge, encouraging exploration of the region;
• Developing new outreach focused on land stewardship and promoting lesser-known gems; and
• Strengthening partnerships with local organizations to improve outdoor infrastructure.
