AUGUSTA – Maryann Carr Tiemann of Augusta died Feb. 5, 2025, of complications from throat cancer.
She was born in El Paso, Texas on Feb. 5, 1955 to Philip W. Tiemann, Jr. and Donalda Houston Tiemann. Maryann’s early childhood forged a love of travel as she lived on army bases in the US and Germany where her father was stationed.
Her family then moved to Augusta where Maryann attended local schools and was a member of the Cony High School class of 1973. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1977.
After graduation she moved to Nashville where she worked as a traveling consultant for Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. That job was followed by over a year abroad visiting many European countries and living in Greece. Upon returning to Maine, Maryann worked for several years at UNUM in Portland.
She was very active for over 25 years in the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as both page and marshal at state and national conventions. Maryann was also a fan of Boston sports teams especially the Celtics and the Patriots. She followed tennis and enjoyed a trip to England to see the Wimbledon tournament.
Maryann was predeceased by her mother and brother Philip. She is survived by her father; brother David (Maryli), sisters Julie Hopkins (Clif), Sara Tiemann and Lisa Tiemann, sister-in-law Marie Tiemann; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There are no services per her request.
