UNITY — The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association is set to hold its Grow Your Own Organic Garden class at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 2.
Participants can learn the basics of organic gardening — such as supporting soil and plant health, starting seeds indoors and outdoors, interplanting, pest management, watering and harvesting. The class includes time for participants to ask questions and connect with one another about shared experiences in their gardening journeys.
Participants should leave the class equipped with core knowledge of how to grow an organic garden, connected to resources and community members that will help them grow an organic garden, and feeling ready to take the first steps toward doing so. They will receive seeds to start in their homes and communities, according to a news release from the association.
“MOFGA has offered Grow Your Own Organic Garden at hubs across the state since the 1990s, and this is the first time MOFGA will be offering it in person since the pandemic,” says Madi Whaley, MOFGA’s educational programs coordinator.
The class will be held April 2, unless otherwise noted. Pricing and age requirements vary by location. This class is appropriate for beginner and seasoned gardeners alike. MOFGA is collaborating with community partners, and farm and garden educators, to offer this class.
