BATH — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust is set to hold its annual meeting and membership celebration at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Long Reach Hall at the Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St. People can join KELT’s Board of Directors, staff and friends to celebrate local conservation and let their voices be heard.
To begin the evening, the trust invites guests to refreshments and camaraderie with a view of the Kennebec River. Guests can talk with staff and volunteers about various accomplishments from the previous year, goals for the upcoming season, and the trust’s 2025-30 Strategic Plan.
The trust will also be launching its 2025 online auction, showcasing unique experiences in the estuary with all proceeds supporting the land trust’s mission-driven work, according to a news release from Emily Stinneford with the trust.
There will be a short business meeting led by members of the Board of Directors, during which time trust members will elect new board members. Immediately following, members will delve into the layered realm of habitat restoration in the Kennebec Estuary.
Chris Meaney from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will talk about why habitat restoration matters in Maine. Guests can learn from land trust staff about what restoration work looks like at the trust, from cross-sector partnerships to improving infrastructure for the benefit of people and resilient wildlife habitat.
Stories will be shared about three ongoing projects: Back River Creek in Woolwich (the trust’s Route 1 project), prioritizing and assessing tidal crossings throughout the estuary, and Center Point Preserve in Bowdoinham.
