I am writing this letter to support Mark O’Brien for election as mayor for the city of Augusta. I have had the opportunity and privilege of working with Mark in several capacities for more than two decades. While he was chair of the Augusta Board of Education, I served under his leadership, for several years, where he provided leadership, guidance and support to the board. Mark always encouraged input from all board members to find the best solution to problems and found ways to make things happen.
Mark has served on the Capitol Area Recreation Association (CARA) board of directors for over 15 years, and for the past five years has served as president. On the CARA board, Mark has taken a leadership role to continue making CARA a wonderful complex for this community. Mark has helped develop areas on the complex and helped with fundraising to allow the CARA complex to be an asset of which the citizens of the city of Augusta can be proud.
While serving on the City Council, Mark listened to all sides of the issues and has asked good questions to learn the facts of the issue before making an informed decision, voting for what he feels is the best for the citizens of Augusta.
Mark has been a strong and experienced leader in this community for many years in several capacities. Please join me in voting for Mark on Election Day.
