Skowhegan at Messalonskee field hockey
3:30 p.m., Tuesday
A rematch of the 2023 Class A North title game, which the River Hawks won, 3-1. Earlier that fall, Messalonskee dealt Skowhegan its first regular-season loss since 2017. Both programs are contenders again this year, Skowhegan enters the week 4-1 and Messalonskee at 3-2.
Falmouth at York volleyball
5:30 p.m., Thursday
Matchup between two of the top programs in Class B. York is off to a 5-1 start, while Falmouth’s 3-3 record is deceptive because its losses are to Yarmouth and five-setters to Class A powers Biddeford and Gorham.
Gardiner at Leavitt field hockey
10 a.m., Saturday
Not only is Leavitt (5-0) the only unbeaten team in Class B North, the Hornets are responsible for Lawrence’s lone loss and they beat two teams that dealt other region contenders their only defeats: Erksine, which beat Nokomis, and Cony, which ended Gardiner’s (5-1) unbeaten start to the season on Wednesday.
Nokomis at Belfast field hockey
Noon, Saturday
Nokomis enters the week with a 4-1-1 record and has only allowed two goals this season while outscoring its opponents 28-2. Belfast is 5-1, its only setback a 3-2 overtime loss to Gardiner on Sept. 10. The Lions have scored 35 goals to their opponents’ five.
Cony at Leavitt football
7 p.m., Saturday
This is a rare meeting of two of the most consistently good programs in Maine high school football, who are coached by two of the most progressive offensive minds in the state, B.L Lippert of Cony (2-1) and Mike Hathaway of Leavitt (1-2). Both teams are coming off losses, and this won’t be an easy week to get back on track.
