I live in Skowhegan and am frequently made aware of the legacy of Margaret Chase Smith.
A recent anonymous message suggested thanking Sen. Collins for voting against Kash Patel as director of the FBI. Not surprisingly, the vote had no impact on the outcome.
A Feb. 27 Maine Compass, by Deborah Spark, recognizes Gov. Janet Mills for standing up against President Trump. She points out that Margaret Chase Smith took great risks and demonstrated great courage as a freshman senator.
I imagine Sen. Smith smiling at Gov. Mills.
